The VI International Symposium on Reconstructive Surgery took place in Ivano-Frankivsk at the end of October, bringing together more than 130 Ukrainian doctors and international specialists to exchange expertise on modern approaches to complex reconstructive surgery.
At the end of October, Ivano-Frankivsk hosted the VI International Symposium on Reconstructive Surgery, bringing together more than 130 doctors from across Ukraine.
The event provided a platform for Ukrainian and international medical professionals to discuss modern reconstructive techniques and practical approaches to treating complex injuries and tissue defects.
Leading specialists from Canada and the United States shared their expertise in facial reconstruction for both children and adults, including approaches to:
complex facial injuries;
jaw fractures;
foreign bodies in the airways;
scar-related conditions;
complex soft-tissue defects.
The experience of Ukrainian doctors was also an important part of the professional exchange. Working in the conditions created by the full-scale war, Ukrainian medical professionals have gained substantial practical experience in complex reconstructive and restorative procedures and were able to share this expertise with their international colleagues.
The symposium was organised by the NGO Patients of Ukraine with the support of the Children’s Resilience Fund, an initiative designed to strengthen the capacity of Ukrainian civil society organisations and support their long-term work.
Crown Agents Ukraine, together with Integrity Action, supports the implementation of the Children’s Resilience Fund, helping strengthen Ukrainian organisations and initiatives working for the benefit of children, patients and communities.
Professional events such as this symposium provide Ukrainian doctors with access to international expertise, create opportunities for mutual knowledge exchange and contribute to the continued development of approaches to treating patients with complex injuries.
