Under emergency support to Ukraine’s agricultural sector, modern agricultural machinery has been delivered to the Lviv, Rivne, Chernihiv, Poltava and Khmelnytskyi branches of the Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination.
The Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination plays an important role in the development of Ukraine’s agricultural sector by conducting field and laboratory research on new plant varieties and assessing their suitability for cultivation under different conditions.
This work is particularly important during the war, when improving the efficiency and resilience of agricultural production directly contributes to the country’s food security.
Under the Subproject for Agriculture Sector Urgent Support, modern agricultural machinery was delivered to five regional branches of the Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination:
Lviv;
Rivne;
Chernihiv;
Poltava;
Khmelnytskyi.
The supplied combine harvesters will be used in field trials of new plant varieties.
Modern machinery is particularly important for ensuring accurate results during variety testing. Its advantages include reducing seed losses during harvesting and allowing more precise collection of samples for subsequent laboratory analysis.
Field trials help researchers assess how individual varieties perform under Ukrainian conditions, including their productivity, consistency and suitability for cultivation.
This delivery forms part of broader support to the Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination, strengthening both its field-testing and laboratory capacities.
The assistance was provided under the Subproject for Agriculture Sector Urgent Support, implemented with support from the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency JICA, with the participation of Crown Agents.
Supporting modern agricultural research and plant variety testing helps Ukraine maintain the capacity to develop productive and resilient agriculture despite the challenges of war.
