The “Art of Healing” project, implemented by Save Ukraine with support from the Children’s Resilience Fund, demonstrates how art and creative practices can support the emotional recovery of children affected by the war.
Art can be more than a form of self-expression — it can also become a tool for recovery.
The Art of Healing project creates a space where children who have experienced war, occupation, displacement, the loss of their homes or separation from loved ones can use creativity to express difficult emotions and gradually rebuild a sense of safety.
One of the central works featured in the project is “Blooming”, a sculpture by Ukrainian artist Oleksandra Plavinska, known as ASSHA.
Her work combines philosophical ideas with functional art, transforming creative expression into part of everyday life. Within the Art of Healing project, “Blooming” became a symbol of renewal, inner growth and the possibility of healing after trauma.
The sculpture was inspired by children’s drawings and creative practices that help young people communicate experiences that can be difficult to express in words.
The project is implemented by Save Ukraine with support from the Children’s Resilience Fund and forms part of broader efforts to provide psychosocial support to children affected by the war.
For Crown Agents Ukraine, supporting initiatives of this kind contributes to creating an environment where children’s recovery is supported not only through essential assistance, but also through creativity, trust and safe ways of processing difficult experiences.
