A new art therapy space has opened at a State Border Guard Service of Ukraine sanatorium for servicemembers undergoing rehabilitation — the initiative was presented on "Radio Kordon" with the State Border Guard Service and the NGO "ART Studio PYATERNIA".
A new art space has opened at a sanatorium of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, where servicemembers undergo rehabilitation — a place where creativity becomes part of recovery, helping to relieve inner tension and gradually restore a sense of stability.
We have previously reported on this project: how a Soviet-era building was transformed into a modern, inclusive space for art therapy. It is now fully operational and welcomes servicemembers for both group and individual sessions.
The art space was created as a safe environment where participants can:
work with clay and other materials
draw, engage in graphic art and other creative practices
take part in art therapy sessions and group meetings
have space for conversation, quiet, and recovery
We discussed how the idea for this space came about, why art therapy matters for military personnel, and how cooperation between government institutions, civil society organisations, and international partners helps develop such initiatives, in an interview on "Radio Kordon" together with Colonel Ilona Melnykova, Deputy Director of the Department — Head of the International Cooperation and European Integration Division of the State Border Guard Service, and Tetiana Mialkovska, founder and head of the NGO "ART Studio PYATERNIA".

We were delighted to take part in the conversation on "Radio Kordon", and we sincerely thank them for the invitation and the warm, meaningful discussion, as well as the NGO "ART Studio PYATERNIA" for bringing this space to life.
Together, we are working to ensure that the rehabilitation system for Ukraine's defenders includes not only medical care, but also space for recovery through creativity, community, and professional psychological support.
