Agricultural Machinery Delivered to the V. M. Remeslo Myronivka Institute of Wheat with Support from Japan

Under emergency support to Ukraine’s agricultural sector, the V. M. Remeslo Myronivka Institute of Wheat received two John Deere tractors. The Institute had previously also received seeds of key agricultural crops and diesel generators to help maintain uninterrupted operations.

Maintaining the capacity of Ukraine’s agricultural research institutions during the war is directly linked to the country’s long-term food security. Research institutes need to continue field trials, variety testing and scientific work despite damage to infrastructure and disruptions to electricity supply.

Under the Subproject for Agriculture Sector Urgent Support, the V. M. Remeslo Myronivka Institute of Wheat received two John Deere tractors.

Modern agricultural machinery is essential for the Institute’s field and research activities, where the accuracy and reliability of technical operations directly affect the quality of trials conducted on new plant varieties before their inclusion in the state register.

The delivery builds on earlier support provided to the Institute. It had previously received:

  • winter wheat seeds;

  • winter rye seeds;

  • winter barley seeds;

  • winter rapeseed seeds;

  • high-capacity diesel generators to help maintain operations during electricity disruptions.

Together, the seeds, agricultural machinery and backup power equipment help the Institute continue scientific research and field activities under wartime conditions.

The assistance was provided under the Subproject for Agriculture Sector Urgent Support, implemented by the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency JICA, with support from Crown Agents.

Supporting Ukraine’s agricultural research institutions contributes not only to maintaining their immediate operations, but also to the long-term resilience of the country’s agricultural sector and food security.
